Carbon solutions from sustainably managed forests

by Ellen Cools

Canada’s forests are some of the most resilient and sustainably managed in the world. Forest activities in Canada are highly regulated and backed by comprehensive compliance, enforcement and monitoring of forest management practices.

Canada’s forest sector depends on sustainably managed forests to make lumber, panel products like plywood and oriented strand board, and pulp and paper products like tissue, cardboard and printing paper. Less than one third of one percent of Canada’s forests are harvested annually and overall Canada’s forests are growing faster than they are being harvested.
