The Wood Pellet Association of Canada welcomed seven new members to the association on the eve of its annual general meeting and conference , which began November 27 in Quebec City. Joining are Scott Weatherford and Mark Semeniuk of Atco Wood Prodcuts Ltd., Knud Jensen and Oleh Kabanov of Canfornav, Peter Grayton of McKeil Marine Ltd. and Thomas Logan and Peter Oatman of Protocol Biomass Corporation.

Canada’s new regulations for reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from coal-fired electricity were released by Environment Minister Peter Kent on September 5, 2012. They may be weaker than some predicted, but as WPAC executive director Gord Murray reports, they create opportunities to grow the domestic pellet market.
